Housing Minister Randall Mitchell apologised for the delay in delivering the house and thanked the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) board and management for moving speedily to resolve the situation. Gordon was presented with the keys to his new home at Maracas Valley, St Joseph. Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Darryl Smith was also present to congratulate Gordon. Smith said the then Cabinet in 2013 agreed to grant a home to Gordon. However, this did not materialise before the last Government demitted office. "This Government therefore resolved to correct this situation," he said. Gordon said he was grateful for the new home. Gordon, the 400m hurdler has represented this country on the international scene since 2010. He shot into the spotlight in 2013 having won a double gold medal in the World Championships, which earned him the TTOC Sportsman of the Year and the Ministry of Sports' Spirit of Sport Award. It was then former Sports Minister Anil Robert announced that Gordon would be presented with several rewards, including a mid-sized HDC house.
