Bronze for CainTrinidad Express :: 17.09.2016Sprinter Nyoshia Cain won Trinidad and Tobago's third medal at the World Paralaympic Games in Rio de Janeiro late yesterday, taking bronze in the T44 women's 100 metres in a time of 13.10 seconds. Running in lane eight, Cain was off to a slow start and was trailing until she accelerated from about 40 metres out. She finished behind the Netherlands' Marlou Van Rhijn, who took the gold in 13.02 seconds, and second-placed Irmgard Bensusan of Germany (13.04). Earlier in the day, Cain had finished with the fifth-fastest qualifying time after clocking 13.32 seconds to place second in her heat. On Friday, field athlete Akeem Stewart had followed up his gold medal performance in the F43 javelin with silver in the discus.
