Nero 2nd in NACAC 10KTrinidad Express :: 19.10.2015Trinidad and Tobago's Tonya Nero finished second in the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletics Association (NACAC) Guadeloupe International 10K, in the French overseas department, on Saturday. Running in humid conditions on a hilly course, Nero got home in a season's best 36 minutes, 45 seconds. Laura Batterink emerged victorious in the women's race, the Canadian runner completing the 10-kilometre course in 35:38. St Vincent and the Grenadines athlete, Linda McDowall was third in 39:09. T&T-based Kenyan, Kenneth Rotich was the leader in the men's race for eight kilometres. Defending champion Juan Carlos Romero, however, was stronger in the latter stages of the NACAC 10K, the Mexican winning in 30:54. Rotich clocked 31:57 for second spot, well ahead of Canadian Keenan Viney, the third-place finisher in 32:46. Veteran Curtis Cox finished 11th in 35:35, while his T&T teammate, Nicholas Landeau was 36th in 40:31. |
