FIRST CLASS Jehue golden in classroom tooKwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 11.10.2015Jehue Gordon is not only a stellar example of sporting excellence. He is also a model student. Gordon is now the holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in sports management with minors in marketing and human resource management, the 2013 men's 400 metres hurdles world champion graduating with First Class Honours from The University of the West Indies (UWI). “It means a lot,” Gordon told the Express, “because I went to the university on a bye basically. I did not do my A-Levels. I went in using my SAT scores because I was already planning to go to the US on a full scholarship. But after I made a decision to turn professional, the school made a decision to take me. “I knew I could not come in with the expectation that things would be given to me easily, so I worked hard for what I wanted.” Gordon's efforts were certainly not in vain, and next Friday, October 23 at UWI SPEC in St Augustine, he will proudly don his gown and hood at the UWI graduation ceremony. |
