Trinidad and Tobago’s Deon Lendore continued his fine run of form this season with a world-leading time in the men’s 200 metres, at the Texas A&M Aggie Invitational indoor meet, in Texas, USA, late yesterday.

The Texas A&M University student won the event in a personal best 20.68 seconds to join American Wallace Spearmon and Jamaican Jermaine Brown at the top of the 2014 world indoor performance list. Spearmon and Brown produced their 20.68 clockings in January.

With his 200 scorcher yesterday, Lendore now leads the world in two events.

The 21-year-old athlete went to the top of the 2014 indoor 400m list with a 45.74 seconds run in Texas on January 25. And on February 1, Lendore improved on his world-leading time with a 45.47 sizzler in Arkansas, USA.

Another T&T/Texas A&M athlete, Wayne Davis II topped the men’s 60m hurdles final in 7.81 seconds. In the qualifying round, he had clocked 7.85 to emerge as the fastest qualifier.

Michelle-Lee Ahye clocked an indoor best in the Olympic Development women’s 200m, getting to the line in 23.44 seconds to seize silver.

Janeil Bellille was impressive in the women’s 400m, producing her best ever clocking in the event—indoors or outdoors. The Texas A&M student crossed the line in 53.05 seconds to secure second spot.

Jamol James, better known for his sprinting exploits, gave a very good account of himself in the men’s long jump, the University of Tennessee athlete finishing second with a 7.43 metres leap.

In the 60m dash, James was sixth in the final in 6.76 seconds. In the preliminary round, he clocked 6.82 for eighth spot overall, while Louisiana State University (LSU) student Shermund Allsop was 14th in 6.90 and did not advance to the final.

Richard “Torpedo” Thompson bagged bronze in the Olympic Development men’s 60m dash, the 2008 Olympic 100m silver medallist getting home in 6.72 seconds.

Ade Alleyne-Forte finished sixth in the Olympic Development men’s 400m in 47.85 seconds.

University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) athlete, Aeisha McDavid was 10th in the women’s triple jump with an 11.56m effort. Baylor University’s Dannielle Davis jumped 5.14m for 15th spot in the women’s long jump. And in the 60m hurdles, Davis was 17th overall in 8.92 seconds.
