T&T win 11 medalsTrinidad Express :: 08.08.2013Krista Francis-Raymah won four gold medals and Marcelle Ramos-Johnson got a total of five medals as the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service had one of their better performances at the World Police and Fire Games, which ended on Sunday in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The Fire Service bagged a total of 11 medals—six gold, three silver and two bronze. Francis-Raymah won four golds in the 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres and 4x400m in the over-40 women category. She also teamed up with teammate Marcelle Ramos-Johnson and two English athletes to take the 4x400 metres relay to crown off her best ever WPFG. Francis-Raymah was completely on her own as she blew away the opposition in the three individual events. But it was Ramos-Johnson who won the most medals. The multitalented athlete won medals on the track, as well as in field events. She got gold in the discus throw and silver in the shot put before taking to the track to get gold as part of the 4x400 relay team, silver in the 400 metres and bronze in the 200 metres. Rounding out the medallists were Brent Clarke with a silver in the long jump and Colin Chandler, who was pip into third spot in a relatively new event to Trinidad and Tobago, that of mountaineering. |
